Christmas Magic
By Karissa Schlaht
Winter’s hush has fallen. Our family of four stays snuggled up together on the couch all Sunday, laughing intermittently at Kevin and Buddy the elf, surrounded by twinkling lights, flickering candles and the smell of apple cider and freshly baked cookies, all while snow falls in perfect unison to Spotify’s Holiday playlist.
Outside, a blanket of fluffy snow covers the city, casting a spell of stillness, reconnecting us to ourselves and loved ones. The magic we create in these moments is a gift that no present can replace.
Inside, I feel like a snow globe; a miniature, self-contained world where my story is captured in a scene of tiny figurines. I give the globe a gentle tilt, a whispered wish, then white glitter starts to swirl. The porcelain scene is transformed into a wonderland, and the dancing snow washes all the world’s pain away. I remember that I am the dancer inside the globe, the creator of my own inner bliss. The more compassion I bring to this world, the more love and energy I have to share freely with others.
Every time a snow globe is tilted this holiday season, I hope you remember the love that connects us. This, my friends, is Christmas magic.
